When lovely Maria of Adelaide's Homesewn asked me to model some pretty items in her shop, I jumped on the chance. Her Etsy shop has been a favorite of mine for some time, so why not try out some of her great things for free?

Here is the first batch of pieces she sent me.. the polka dots and stripes dress and a sweet berry pickin dress with peter pan collar are both in her shop, and the pleated drop waist dress and striped romper should be added soon!

I have to apologize for the lack of Sewing Saturdays recently.. it's been nearly a month since I posted one! Suck. I guess I can blame it on the chaos that's been our house and our life in general lately. But this past week, things began to slow down and I finally had time to unpack my sewing supplies and put them in their proper places.. which means I can have a Sewing Saturday ready for you for next week! I'm planning on making it rock, too. What would you like the next Sewing Saturday to be about?

It's Saturday! I'm headed to work at American Apparel for the afternoon, then I'm walking over to Robert's Western World with some super awesome girls for dancing and rum and coke (ONE rum and coke - I have the alcohol tolerance of a small animal). Happy weekend!

samantha pleet spring/summer 2011

Today was not the greatest day for me. I finally caught a cold I've been fighting, had super bad period cramps, broke my camera tripod as I was trying to take shop photos, and accidentally dropped my eyeliner down the bathroom sink. And a plumbing pipe broke, spilling all of our bath water onto the basement floor. All of this and I still haven't been able to do any serious unpacking. Yuck.

Fortunately, the day got better. Neil came home and we picked up some Thai takeout and a movie, I ordered some birthday shoes(!), and Rhi sent me a link to this lovely collection. Not to mention, sometimes it takes a crappy day to realize all of the awesomeness in your life.. we may have a mess on our hands and a million bags and boxes to unpack, but we have a perfect new place and everything we need - especially for being a couple of broke young kids.

But back to the photos! Samantha Pleet's Spring/Summer 2011 collection has little floral dresses, polka dots, pretty white blouses, and the best shade of brown I've ever seen in adorable high waisted shorts. The swimsuit, bow dress, and the little flat oxfords are my absolute favorites.

I'm excited for a day off tomorrow. I'll be going out for lunch at Burger Up with my dad, then heading to East Nashville to do some thrift shopping with Quincy! Burgers, thrift stores, and cool people. Do you guys have any fun middle of the week plans?

I feel guilty about my lack of posting this weekend! Sorry for the missing Sewing Saturday post. I started two projects and didn't get a chance to finish either because of this weekend's craziness. Neil's parents came down to Nashville to celebrate his birthday on Sunday, and on Saturday I had a chance to meet with a lovely blogger and spend a lot of time with her and her husband, as well as a surprise visit from some of our college friends Saturday night.

I'll be posting photos of the lovely blog visit tonight!

my favorite fall/winter 2010 collection.. new zealand's ruby boutique

Thank you, Dujour Magazine, for introducing me to this lovely designer. Ruby Boutique is a New Zealand based store that posted their Fall/Winter 2010 lookbook a while ago, and it is filled with all my favorite things - pastels, Victorian-inspired shoulders and ruffles, and lace. And polka dots and sweet little eyelet mini dresses. The tweed-esque Dove Shorts and the sweet blue Juliet Dress have got to be my two favorite pieces.

Vanessa just wrote a lovely post about a collection filled with delicate liberty prints and peter pan collars.. she also said that it's rare that she come across a collection completely comprised of pieces she likes. I feel the same way about this collection.. there is very little that I don't like about Ruby's F/W 2010. It must be the softness of it all.

Of course, this comes at a time when I'm slowly becoming obsessed with masculine trousers and Steve Urkel suspenders.

Check out the entire collection here.. you'll be glad you did.
