soft light

I can't sleep, so I'm eating animal crackers and posting twelve hours early.

These are some photos I took around the house today.. what do you think? I was messing around with the shutter speed and trying to figure out how to change the lighting and softness without doing any photo editing. I've been playing around with the ghosting effect.. well, some form of it.. and using it to give the photos a filmy, hazy look. I like how they almost look faded from age.

Hope you are all well rested, wherever you are. It's nice to know that some of you are awake right now too, even if that means you're an ocean or two away.

miss unkon spring/summer 2010.

Currently, I'm sitting at my parent's house fighting sleep after a full day. All of my family is here (!!), and after I worked at American Apparel in the morning, Neil and I drove down to see them and spend the night eating good food and watching a concert at Puckett's in Leiper's Fork. Afterwards, we all stayed up extra late talking on the porch, enjoying a surprisingly cool night.

I might be tired, but I really needed to share some of my favorite photos from Australia's own Miss Unkon's Spring and Summer 2010 Lookbook. The photos are very romantic and dreamy, all with a distinctly 70's feel - cut out backs, long and flowing pleated skirts, plenty of sheer button ups. Ruffles and straw hats and lace up boots. The crop top in a pretty brown liberty print with renaissance sleeves is by far my favorite.

Now it's past two in the morning, and going to bed sounds ridiculously nice. I'm going to shut my computer and get some rest, because tomorrow will be a full day of sisterly blog photos and eating out in Nashville and touring old Southern mansions. Goodnight!

inspiration of the decade - elinkan

The post I promised on the rock coolness of Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Alison Mosshart of the Kills and the Dead Weather will have to wait, I'm afraid. Girly stuff got in the way again.

While I was looking up rock pictures on Flickr, I ran into Elinkan's photostream. I'm sure many of you have seen her outstanding blog before, but for those who haven't, this is a must. She has a cuteness that transcends hair color and a knack at taking the best photos.. and I'm not exaggerating. Bows, florals, knee highs galore. Very schoolgirl and not in a crap Britney Spears sort of way. In a playful European sort of way.
