These old fashioned soft spiced bars are said to date back to the late 1800s when the wives of New England sailors would make these for their husbands to take out to sea because they traveled so well.
What You'll Need:
1/3 cup Raisins
1/3 cup Packed Brown Sugar
1 cup All-Purpose Flour
1 1/4 tsp Ground Ginger
1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
1/2 tsp Baking Powder
1/4 tsp Salt
3 tbsp Molasses
3 tbsp Butter, melted
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
1 large Egg White
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or spray with nonstick cooking spray.
This recipe makes 16 bars. Store in a tightly covered container.
