PRESS RELEASE: BLACKBIRD RUNWAY PRESENTATION
On Thursday, October 7, 2010, Seattle-based men's wear boutique Blackbird presented its Fall/Winter '10 collections at Discovery Park's Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center in Seattle, WA. Eleven models walked down three connected runways in front of a live musical performance by dark Brooklyn artrock trio GHXST.
The styling for the runway show presented gradual progression of genres to show the wide diversity of Blackbird's labels and its customers. The show opened with classic, heritage-inspired looks by American staples such as Pendleton, Filson and Woolrich Woolen Mills before progressing into a more modern mood with Robert Geller, Fidelity and Vandalist by Vandal. The final articulation was an homage to the boutique's more industrial designers, featuring Japanese cult-favorites Julius and Diet Butcher Slim Skin, Los Angeles-based dark luxury designer Odyn Vovk and Swedish knitwear designer Lars Andersson.
The runway presentation was used as a means to raise funds for and draw attention to the United Indians of All Tribes Foundation, an organization founded to serve as a focal point for Native cultural renewal and regeneration in the Greater Seattle area. In attendance were Blackbird customers, local and national press and a wide variety of representatives from Seattle's aesthetic and cultural worlds.
Sponsors of the Blackbird Runway Presentation included: Gene Juarez, Ace Hotel, Xanté, Dry Soda Co., Barbour, Baxter of California, Diptyque Paris, Filson, Jonboy Caramels, Lulu Organics, Malin + Goetz, Moore & Giles, Obey, Pendleton, Stanley and Steven Smith Teamaker.

HELLO HAROLD
Meet Harold Callum Merriweather, the first guest to show up at the Blackbird Runway Presentation on Thursday. Sure, he was ridiculously early, but he showed up sporting flawless eye makeup and vintage fur, setting the stage for what it really means to make fashion happen. Thanks for your support Harold - Blackbird would be nothing without you.THE ONE WOLF MIGRATES NORTH: ODYN VOVK STALKS BLACKBIRD
Odyn Vovk's Austin Sherbanenko and Christina Vagi paid a visit to Seattle for the Blackbird Runway Presentation and took some incredible pictures on their over-the-river-and-through-the-woods rainy day field trip with Blackbird owner Nicole Miller. Here they are, fresh from Austin's blog. Enjoy the majesty that is the Northwest...
