my favorite spring trends

prep
ASOS sunglasses, Topshop denim bralette, American Apparel blouse and chambray mid length skirt, Topshop one piece and leather brogues, Apiece Apart pleated tea skirt

Trends are entirely subjective creatures - they are what you make of them. That said, I love translating current trends into my own sense of style, making them a bit more personal for me.. and this spring, there are plenty of looks that I'm really loving. Here are some spring trends I can't wait to wear in the upcoming months.

All American sock hop style! 50s inspired full mid length skirts, bustier tops, varsity jackets, and plenty of pleats. Always great for spring when I'm looking for fun, girlish shapes. ASOS has this incredible cropped floral sweater that fits the look perfectly.

min
Topshop crochet poncho, APC denim shorts, ASOS belt, Madewell sandals, Bodkin jumpsuit, American Apparel chiffon skirt and crop top

A trend I'm excited for but nervous about is the minimalist trend.. mixing whites and neutrals together for a utilitarian look. Still trying to figure out how to make this one work.. any suggestions? I plan on mixing up textures (like a crochet top with denim shorts, above) to keep things interesting.

70s
Topshop wood wedges and crop top, ASOS felted wool hat and earrings, Tsumori Chisato chiffon blouse, Topshop wide legged rose trousers, Rag and Bone pleated maxi skirt

1970s Yves Saint Laurent style with wide brimmed wool hats, wide legged trousers, and platform wood wedges. Can't wait to try out this look with the flared chambray trousers I'm sewing.

Happy weekend, all! What trends are you looking forward to this season?

vintage ruffle sleeve FLORAL top

vintage soft PASTEL PLAID dress

vintage RIC RAC mini dress

Etsy shop update! All for the springtime.

I've decided to go back to my old ways of updating the shop on Mondays.. it's much simpler this way, there's no chance of procrastinating or forgetting to list an item, and it allows me to dedicate one post to every week's update. Not that I won't go back to listing daily.. eventually, I will.

So.. here's this week!

Now, here is the seafoam green I was talking about last week.. the Ric Rac dress, above, as well as a 70's shirt dress in seafoam green. And don't forget about these double breasted, high waisted navy trousers. No green to them, but still super cool.

I'll also be adding new items to the SALE section and maybe doing some additional markdowns, as well.. so keep an eye on it over the next couple of days.

Happy beginning of the week!

etsy shop update!

This and more in the shop, including these lovely 1960's alligator heels, retro TWA cabin bag, and structured tweed hunting blazer!

I'm very pleased about the mint green sweater in the pictures above.. while it might come from the 1950's, I'm pretty sure it's from the 40's - which would make it the oldest thing yet to make it into my shop. I always find good 60's shoes and fun 80's dresses, but never have I found anything older than the 50's that was decent enough to list.. so, so happy!

There are many things I'm looking forward to this week.. but to start, I can't wait to post pictures of the wedding this past weekend and get your feedback on my altered dress! For now, I'm going to begin The Lost Symbol. After Etsying it up all day, my brain needs some Masonic action.

Hope you're having a memorable start to your week!
