Retail-led regeneration prospects

Last week saw the latest session of the Major Projects Delivery Group focus on the future of retail-led regeneration in the capital.

CBRE hosted the session, and presented to senior regeneration practitioners from across London on their latest analysis of the state of the retail-market and prospects for the future.

We were also joined by Tony Westbrook of LB Barnet, who gave the group a detailed update on the Brent Cross Cricklewood scheme, where retail development forms a critical component of the overall transformational vision for the area.

The discussion highlighted that while on the whole London has recovered well from the recent recession, the market is likely to remain uncertain for some time into the future - particularly for those schemes which are of marginal value, and those that are attempting to compete with London's established retail centres, such as Oxford Street, and emerging centres in Stratford City and Brent Cross.

See here for Mike Prentice (CBRE) and Tony Westbrook's detailed presentations from the day. We will be announcing the theme of the next MPDG in the coming weeks, so watch out for that.
