Exactly one month ago, here, I challenged you to find the thing about That Old House
that was different in these two photographs:
Yup, it was the missing shutter on the right hand front corner of the house.
We'd had a fierce storm, and one of the shutters broke in two and came off its hinges.
For Show And Tell Friday (Thank you, Cindy, of My Romantic Home),
I am showing off my husband's handiwork:

The shutter is back!
Hooray for Howard!
Please admire his newly restored, newly re-attached shutter, but please don't look at the peeling paint.
That Old House is very self-conscious about her wrinkles and age spots.

You may have heard me say before that I believe dust to be a protective coating on fine antiques and treasures.
Well, turns out that the things inside That Old House
aren't the only ones with that protective coating.

I am anxiously watching the iris buds, waiting for them to burst open:
Look closely . . . what do you see? Dust!
Well, OK, maybe pollen, but that just cracks me up.

This Show And Tell has nothing to do with our house.
Howard took this picture with his phone, late Wednesday night, on the Triboro Bridge
in New York City, as he was sitting in his car in a deadlocked sea of vehicles:
You may have heard about it on the news; the bridge was shut down because of a suspicious truck, left abandoned and leaking gasoline. Howard was on his way to LaGuardia Airport to pick up our daughter Alida, in from California for a visit, and was of course on the bridge at the time of the shutdown.
Let's just say Alida waited a long long time for her Dad to get to the airport that night. But it all turned out just fine, and that abandoned truck was found to be nothing more than . . . an abandoned truck. Thank goodness.

Bah, humbug. It was, is, and always will be the Triboro Bridge. Always. Got that, you chuckleheaded bureaucrats?
