Welcome to the Beach House! Step Outside. . . .

Daughter Anne is settled into her apartment, near the campus.
More pictures after we bring a second dresser on Saturday!

It's Wednesday, and Susan at A Southern Daydreamer is hosting the wildly popular and fun Outdoor Wednesday blog party. Visit her here!

Over at The Shabby Chic Cottage, Gina is hosting a neat Beach Party theme for today. Check out the other Beachy posts here!

Since That Old House is a confirmed landlubber, I'm snatching a few pictures from earlier this summer, taken out at our family's beach house on the North Fork of eastern Long Island. Some are from a day trip with Howard, others are from an overnight trip with my daughter Alida, before she returned to California.

So, join me for a little beach party out on the beautiful East End. . . .

Welcome!

We'll open some wine.
For our dinner the night we spent out there, Alida and I had wine, and fresh peach pie.
I am pretty sure that covers all the food groups, doesn't it?

Take your glass out on the deck, or to the bench at the water's edge, or out on the dock. Enjoy the views!

I love how the old line looks against the cleat.

All quiet on the cove. Where are the neighbors?

Quiet is good.

Walk out on the dock, then turn around; is anyone beckoning from either deck of the house?

In my mind's eye, I see my mom waving us in from the boat, or from a swim.
For a small woman, she did a mighty fine windmill imitation when she wanted our attention.

From the second floor deck, you can see clear across Peconic Bay to Bridgehampton.
Well, you can when it's clear, and if you use a telephoto lens!

Later on, we'll take a drive, and watch the sun set over Long Island Sound, on the other side of the Fork. You can see Connecticut along the horizon, at least when you are there in person. Sunsets are spectacular over the Sound.

(That's a public beach. Note the crowds.)

I hope you enjoyed your visit to our Beach House. I hope we get out there for real very soon.
Luckily, Fall is the best season! -- Cass
