April Food Day -- Bloggers Help

As you sow, so shall you reap.

In this time of economic turmoil, more families are relying on the services of local food banks to put nutritious meals on their tables.

Some members of the Blogging World have designated today as "April Food Day," and you can get more information and learn what you can do to help, by clicking here.

This will link you to the Bloggers Fighting Hunger site, with links to Feeding America, a nonprofit that assists community food banks across the country.

Closer to home, there are the local food pantries, often connected to religious communities. They are always in need of money, or non-perishable foods and staples.

We're all in this together.

Howard and I may have less than we had last year, in common with so many other Americans, but we have enough, and we are profoundly grateful to be so blessed. We try and remember that we are blessed, in order that we may in turn be a blessing to someone else.

Yesterday I posted about the "ghosts" in That Old House, and the traces of past occupants, including this word I found scratched on the wall in our cellar:

"Hunger."

I don't know how it got there, or why, or when. But it sent a chill through me when I found it just yesterday morning; I'd never noticed it before. Hunger. Did some kid scratch it in as a joke?

Or was there a time when hunger stalked the people who lived in this house?
You know, I think I discovered this word yesterday for a reason, and the reason is April Food Day.

I hope everyone reading this has "enough," and never needs the services of a Food Pantry.
Thank God for the many people who give, so that our Food Pantries are there when needed.
